100 Hours. 1 Bag. The Rukuh Story.
On craft, patience, and why we never take shortcuts.
Rukuh started with a single question: what would a bag look like if it was made entirely for the woman wearing it?
Not designed by committee. Not produced by machine. Not shipped from a warehouse where ten thousand identical versions wait to be sold. Just one bag, made by one pair of hands, for one specific woman.
The answer took months to figure out. It started in Lahore, in a workroom with a bead tray, a roll of thread, and a sketch.
Why Beads
Beadwork is one of the oldest forms of human decoration. Archaeologists have found beaded jewellery dating back 100,000 years. In Pakistan, beading traditions run deep — from the embellished phulkari of Punjab to the intricate tilla work of the north. These were not just decorations. They were language. Identity. Pride.
When we started Rukuh, we wanted to take that language and put it in the hands of a woman heading to dinner, to a wedding, to a gallery opening.
100 Hours
That's our rough estimate for how long a single Rukuh piece takes to make, from first sketch to finished bag. Each crystal is placed individually, strung by hand, positioned so it catches light at exactly the right angle.
There is no batch production here. When you order a Rukuh bag, someone picks up a needle and starts beading. Just for you.
Made in Lahore
Every Rukuh piece is made in Lahore, Pakistan. Our artisans are craftspeople with decades of handwork experience. We say it loudly: Made in Pakistan. Not despite the craft here, but because of it.
For the Woman Who Carries Her Own Fortune
That's our founding phrase. We started Rukuh for the woman who builds her own table and brings her own shine. Every series is a different chapter of her story: AURA is her energy. HER is her softness. DRIP is her gold. SHE ATE is her moment. NOIR is her power.
